Head's Welcome
When I visited Ferndale myself for the first time, I was struck by its friendly atmosphere, the happiness of the children and the way in which they conducted themselves around the school. It was also clear that this was a school with good teaching, testified by the proportion of scholarships that are obtained each year. Needless to say, I was delighted to be offered the position of Head from September 2005 and am enjoying building on the excellent foundations which have been established here by my predecessors.
My own experience encompasses 16 years teaching and management in state, international and independent schools. However, as well as a broad background in education, my wife Vicky and I are in the midst of bringing up three young children of our own, so we are also acutely aware of what life is like for busy parents!
I trust that that the information you will find on this site will be useful ...
If you are considering the school as an option for your child, please make an appointment to see Ferndale for yourself: visits normally last an hour which provides enough time for me to meet parents personally and for a guided tour of the school.
For our current parents, this new website should provide more useful and more up-to-date information than the previous version! Please do let me know of any useful additions that could be made on your behalf.
For current pupils, I hope you enjoy seeing some of your own work online, reading your sports reports and using the links provided to help you with your work.
And finally, for Old Ferndalians, I hope the site will help you keep in touch with each other and with Ferndale in years to come.
