History

Ferndale Preparatory School was founded in 1952 by Mrs Nancy Reeves. In the late 1970's, the school was purchased by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Collinge, who remained its owners until 1992. At that point, Ferndale was taken over by Asquith Court Schools Limited. Mr. John Hunt was appointed Headmaster in 1993 and ran the school with his wife, Sue, who was Ferndale's general administrator. In 2001 Mr Christopher Curl took over as Headmaster and in 2002 the school celebrated its 50th Anniversary.

In 2004, Asquith Court Schools were bought by Cognita Ltd, a new education company chaired by Chris Woodhead, the first Chief Inspector of Schools. Ferndale's fifth Headteacher, Mr Andrew Mersh, was appointed in September 2005.

Under its new ownership and leadership, the school can look forward to increased investment and an even more successful future.
