The Nursery

Our accommodation was built in 1998 and has the advantages of being secure and self-contained, whilst at the same time integrating with the rest of the school, with its unique family atmosphere. The Nursery has up to 16 children each session with at least two trained members of staff. We like to give parents a choice in the sessions that their child will attend, although mornings are preferable, as this is the time that the main part of our curriculum is covered.

Children are able to arrive any time between 9.00-9.30am. There is a before and after school club available, that operates within the Nursery if longer hours are required. The morning session, which includes lunch, finishes at 12.45pm. The afternoon session finishes at 3.15pm.

The Nursery follows the curriculum for the Foundation Stage. This is divided into 6 different areas of learning which include:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Communication Language and Literacy
  • Mathematical Development
  • Creative Development
  • Physical Development
  • Knowledge and Understanding of the World

The term after a child's fourth birthday, they join a specially formed pre-reception group. Although this group is an integral part of the Nursery, new challenges are introduced to stimulate a greater independence ready for a smooth transition into Reception and the Lower School at the end of the year.
